Omar is a 32 year old technology enthusiast and Chief Operating Officer at ElBarid (www.elbarid.com). At ElBarid, Omar manages a team of 60 engineer, commercial, and business professionals, and is responsible for developing the company’s partnerships, strategy, and products. Since joining ElBarid in July 2016, Omar has signed multiple clients across MENA, and expanded the profitability of each of the company’s lines of business.
Prior to joining ElBarid, Omar was International Accelerator Manager at the UK Lebanon Tech Hub. At the Tech Hub, Omar was responsible for designing and executing the Accelerator program. In this role, Omar recruited Babson College (www.babson.edu), rated the world’s #1 entrepreneurship school, and designed the curriculum. Omar recruited 141 companies in Lebanon to apply to the accelerator program, and of them selected 45 that went on to continue the program in London. Omar mentored the companies closely on issues related to marketing, product development, and financial planning.
Prior to Lebanon, Omar worked for a Series B start-up in San Francisco named Quid (www.quid.com). Quid is a big data company that specializes in data visualization. At Quid, Omar was responsible for developing the software sales team, and engaging in directly in software sales. In 1 year, Omar generated nearly $1 million in sales, and hired and trained over 10 full time client managers.
Before moving to San Francisco, Omar was an Investment Banking Analyst for Citigroup in the Industrials Mergers & Acquisitions team in London. At Citi, Omar worked on a variety of acquisitions and capital raises. On a day-to-day, Omar was responsible primarily for financial modelling and presenting the analysis to the boards of Fortune 100 companies.
Omar is a graduate of Columbia University where he earned a Masters in Public Policy (Economic and Financial Policy).
